Open to the public between the Historical Archive Municipal Sewer in the House of Cayitas (17/12/2015)

In the afternoon they have opened to the public the Municipal Historical Archives of Sewell, in the House of Cayitas or House of the Inquisition, after several years of closure, since the Municipal Library moved to new and existing buildings next to the Museum Huerta, once the building has been carried an adaptation for use from now on will.

This opening doors, have been a group of residents of our town, historians, along with members of the Municipal Corporation, with the Mayor of Sewell, Joaquín Buendía, accompanied by the Councillor for Culture, Maria Luisa Martinez.

Who did not want to miss the chance to meet our Historical Archive was the General Director of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, who later aperturaba in the "Infanta Elena" Cultural Center Sample of Painters and artists from Murcia, in the programming of the Cultural Christmas .

The building has three floors.

The ground floor has two areas for showrooms.

This collection is of great value to Sewer given the great significance that the industry preserved fruits and vegetables.

The building is also decked out to host the exhibition of 45 watercolors by local artist Andrew Navarro, who was present tonight and check it, being the first of the exhibitions that the file has.

HISTORY OF THE HOUSE OF Cayita or Holy Office and the Inquisition

Also known as the House of the Holy Office, but is more popularly known as "Las Cayitas" - (Name of the last owners of the palace who lived).

It is located on Calle Cartagena and was built in the eighteenth century, housing for hundreds of years the Regional Tribunal of the Inquisition.

In 1982 it was declared Historical Artistic Monument of National character and restored by the Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous Community of Murcia and the City Sewer.

From 1996 to 2013 this building was the headquarters of the Municipal Library of Sewell.

It is known that the Inquisition was already in Alcantarilla in the fifteenth century, establishing their relationships not only with the Villa but with its neighboring towns like Puebla de Soto, La Nora, etc.
