The Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities offers the service of early attention to child Sewer 53 (03/09/2015)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, visited today, accompanied by the mayor of Sewell, Joaquín Buendía, the Early Intervention Centre for children, two day centers and a residence for elderly people in the municipality.

During his visit he stressed that the Early Intervention Centre is serving a total of 53 children in the municipality, and is planned to be expanded to other 22 places.

Violante Tomas highlighted the importance for the regional government of providing this service, aimed at children, their families and the environment of children with developmental disorders.

"It is fundamental to the quality of life of these children later cognitive and sensorimotor stimulation, motor skills, speech activities, physiotherapy and psychology are in the center, so we want to extend them to more users."

Once the Department of Family and Equal Opportunities develop the regulations governing the operation of social services specialized early intervention in the region, and from its entry into force, this will be a public, universal and free service to all under six, when the public service evaluation determine your need.

Care for the elderly

In addition, the minister also referred to the quality of services provided in senior centers in the municipality.

"Thanks to the cooperation maintained with the City Sewer in two centers of municipal ownership, is paying attention to older persons in situations of dependency and particularly Alzheimer's," said the minister.

"Our commitment is to promote active and healthy aging, which promotes personal autonomy, integration and full participation, because the elderly are the pillars of our families, society, and the recognition they have earned deserve" said Thomas Violante.

The Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities provides services to about 9,000 seniors in the region of Murcia.

In 2015 the region already has 2,457 public places available in nursing homes, of which 110 are in Sewell.

During the course 2014-2015 have conducted more than 350 workshops on gerontogimnasia, crafts, poetry, theater, painting and intergenerational exchanges, among others.

There are more than 30,000 active higher in the region in one or more activities organized in these workshops.
