Councillor for IU-Greens in the City Sewer, Carmen Maria Pina, has filed a motion to Parliament next Thursday, February 26, asking to declare the municipality as free evictions.

Pina explained that the initiative also calls for the creation of a housing stock under a social rent, making available to the people in precarious economic situation homes owned by banks and are uninhabited.

The mayor has indicated that given the difficulties faced by many families in the town, public administration "can not remain indifferent", but "must take such steps available to it to give protection to the citizens", in order to make effective the right to housing.

"To this we must add the idea of ​​the weakness of the consumer market, forcing the authorities to restore balance in consumer relations between financial institutions and their customers."

In this regard, he stressed that since the autonomous regions and municipalities "should implement programs in defense of housing, for counseling, mediation and protection of families that are at risk of becoming homeless."

For Pina, the session, as closest to the citizens administration "must act to address the worrying situation of helplessness in which many families are to prevent evictions continue running."

The motion claims that the mayor is responsible or delegated to the relevant council work to establish conversations with financial institutions, with a commitment to keep all local groups.
