As in previous editions, has remained the imposition of the subject of humor on the bases, despite the difficulty of writing in a genre such as comedy, which has about as difficult to get records.

That requirement was imposed nearly two decades ago for two purposes: firstly, to give themselves an identity to the Contest, to distinguish him from the other organized in many Spanish cities, most notably with the intention of alleviating enormous gap that has Spanish literature regarding quality works in this genre.

The challenge has been accepted by many writers from the most different places.

In addition to the regular participants in most Latin American countries - notably Cuba, Uruguay, Bolivia and Argentina - and almost all the other Spanish regions and cities across the rest of Europe this year have been submitted works from as far away as Israel, North America, Japan and the Australian continent.

They have submitted a total of 662 works.

Of these, 223 entered the poetry, and 439 in the tale.

Breach of some of the bases 47 titles were disqualified.
