The String Quartet Arrau Murcia X wins national competition for chamber music "Francisco Salzillo" (30/03/2011)

Murcia string quartet, "Arrau" has won in the Professional category, the X National Chamber Competition "Francisco Salzillo" that has been held during this weekend at the Cultural Center "Infanta Elena" in Sewell, convened the organization of the City of Sewell, in collaboration with the IES Francisco Salzillo, to disseminate and promote chamber music groups to interpret.

About 200 people attended the "Great Spring Concert" which featured the winners of this year on the evening of Saturday.

Thus, the band has won the award playing the works of "Death and the Maiden" by Schubert and "Beethoven Quartet op.18 n ° 14 1 ° movement that achieved the prize of 2,000 euros to be granted to this category and subsequently gave a concert at the Cultural Center "Infanta Elena", of our city, playing behind the success of his performance, Turina's work, "Prayer of the bullfighter."

This quartet, born in late 2010 is composed by the cellist Murcia, Murcia Conservatory professor and cello in the Symphony Orchestra of Cordoba, Juan Mellado, the violinist of the Symphony of Murcia, Antimo Miravete, professor of viola at the Conservatory Murcia, Ana Moreno and violinist of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, Rafael Carrasco.

On the other hand, other awards were for trombone quartet "Whelk" in the category of Higher Grade, with a prize of 1,000 euros and the harp and flute duo, "Arflu" in the Intermediate category , with a prize of 500 euros.

The jury intended to award the prize for best choral chamber music, so it decided to grant the set amount of 500 euros, given the quality of the runners in the Professional category, the Quartet "Ard Sound."

The jury in this edition has been formed by Patricio Pérez Fernández, Deputy Mayor of the Culture of the City Sewer, as president, Mariano Melguizo, concert pianist and professor of cello at the Conservatory of Music and founder of the Murcia Symphony Orchestra RTVE, José Ibáñez Barrachina, professor of trumpet at the Music Conservatory of Murcia, Josefina Pacheco, a professor of chamber music at the Music Conservatory of Murcia, Raymond Gomez Blasi, contest coordinator and Professor at IES Francisco Salzillo, acting as secretary of the Maria Jose Hernandez Legs, Technical Area Sewer Cultural Hall.

In the event had the opportunity to bid, as is traditional, all groups that have the desired camera except for the first prize winner of the previous edition.

The participants played a minimum of two complete works or movements of a different choice and style in any combination chamber music, both vocal and instrumental, with a duration of thirty minutes or less between the works chosen, being penalized by the jury if it exceeds the set time.
