The commemorative activities of the 50th Anniversary of the Museum of the Huerta de Alcantarilla continue, with an Evening Trovera and the discovery of a plaque in the sculpture of El Huertano (14/04/2018)

The Association of Friends of the Huerta Museum, together with the Sewer City Council, continue to carry out activities to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Sewer Garden Museum on March 10, this time on Friday afternoon- night, with an evening Trovera and discovery of a plaque in the sculpture of the Huertano monument and to identify the greatness of it and the authors, who were Nicolás Martínez and his son Anastasio Martínez Valcárcel.

The event began with the discovery of said plaque, by the president of the Association of Friends of the Huerta Museum, Ángeles Ramos, along with the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, accompanied by the councilor for Culture, Tourism and Celebrations, María Luisa Martínez León, who is also the granddaughter and daughter of the authors of this sculpture, which was commissioned by the then mayor of Alcantarilla, Diego Riquelme and Joaquín Martínez, both founders in 1968 said Museum.

The monument to El Huertano, is a work made by the sculptors Nicolás Martínez Ramón and his son, Anastasio Martínez Valcárcel, in 1966, called "Alegoría al Huertano", 2.50 meters high and carved on Abarán limestone .

As Manuel Jorge Aragoneses says, one of the main supporters of our Museum of the Huerta, it "is located in the center of the garden, being a fundamental piece in tribute to the man sacrificed in the cultivation of the earth: digger, farmer and harvester The sculpture, of dimensions of two and a half meters high, on a pedestal of another two meters, represents the character with dignity, with its physiognomy in typical clothing, consisting of shirt, vest, and blanket of "zurrón" (cujón or half jerk morisca), "zaragüeles", and "esparteñas", erect, with "legón", taken in hand, and sometimes, to cover the head, the sun of justice of this land, the symbolic "montera", that looks so much a Moorish turban, its authors, the famous sculptors D. Nicolás Martínez Ramón and D. Anastasio Martínez Valcárcel, completed it in February of 1967. "

The evening evening continued with the magnificent Velada Trovera, on the stage of the Museum of the Huerta, with the participation of the Troveros de la Huerta de Murcia: Pedro López "El Cardoso", Pedro López "El Cardoso II", Antonio Guerrero "El Andaluz ", and Alejandro Martínez" Niño de Archena ", having the Spanish guitars, Tomás García and Antonio Micol, all of them belonging to the Trovera Association José Travel Montoya" El Repuntín "and the Trovero Group" El Patiñero ".
