Communiqué Municipal Socialist Group of Sewer City (02/05/2017)

A few months ago a neighbor of our town got in touch with this Municipal Group to tell us a story and ask us to take a full motion on it.

He told us about the life of his teacher as a child, the teacher Juan Gomez Garcia, a man who for years taught children at Santa Rita Street in Barrio Campoamor, and how this man, who had always kept An intimate memory, had taught him to read and write in those classes that he taught from his own home, which is why he would be grateful forever.

What he asked of us was to take Plenum a motion to be placed on that street, where this teacher lived and taught his classes, his name as a gesture of remembrance and recognition of his work.

We take care of locating and talking with more students of this teacher.

They all verified the same story and how for years the teacher Juan Gomez had been teaching many children in the Barrio de Campoamor, many times without charging them anything given the poor economic situation of the vast majority of families at that time .

Juan Gómez García was a teacher who took the title of Magisterium in the time of the Republic and therefore could never officially exercise his profession after the war.

However, he did for years in his own house, until years later he set up an aromas company, which still remains open in our town and where many families continue to work.

After collecting all this information, through his former students and also his own family, we decided that it was just justice that the master Juan Gomez had that deserved street with his name.

A street like the one that also have many teachers and masters of Alcantarilla.

We believed, like its students, that the most appropriate place would be the place where for so many years he taught and lived with his family, Calle Santa Rita.

We want to emphasize that we would not have given the name that had the street in question.

The Popular Party Sewer has been dedicated to lying in the worst way we have seen in municipal politics lately.

He has accused us of wanting to change the name to a street in this town just to carry the name of a Santa.

And we have to say that the only thing with these affirmations have succeeded is to foment a visceral hatred towards this Group and to provoke, in addition, the one that insults us by the networks with all type of insults.

Yesterday, during our defense of the motion, we argued these same reasons that we have just stated, even made an amendment in voice to rectify our Proposal and that it was not Santa Rita Street that bore the name of the teacher, but any other that the Team Considered to be timely.

However, Mayor Joaquín Buendía did not accept our amendment and voted against the proposal both the Popular Party and the Citizens Group.

So last night we had two very clear things:

The first is that in this town there are twelve streets dedicated to teachers, but that there is not a small gap to be able to place a plaque to a teacher like Juan Gómez.

A man who only wanted to do in his life is to dedicate himself to what he had been denied and was his vocation, to teach.

And that if there is not it is because, for many excuses that look for to argue their vows against, was a republican teacher.

And the second is that lying in politics, unfortunately, is very simple and goes free.

You only need to have the consent of your own group and publish a news item as true on the page of the Party that you are managing.

In a matter of seconds everyone, without even having read the motion or asking those who have presented it, share, judge or even insult freely and without any modesty.

Yesterday the Popular Group did exactly this.

How do we feel today?

Very sad.

And not for the insults, for the record.

When you are sure of the work that has been done, insults often go by.

We are saddened by the students and the children of the teacher Juan Gómez, because we do not know how we are going to explain to them today that in this town only the names of the streets are put to a chosen few of the side of who is ruling.

And then they will tell us to turn the page or to forget the past ...
