Mayor Alcantarilla and the president of the "Sin Barreras" Association meet to strike a balance in the development of the new ordinance for the issuance and use of parking cards for people with disabilities (18/01/2017)

In the morning of yesterday Alcantarilla Mayor, Joaquín Buendía, met with the president of the Association of Persons with Disabilities "Sin Barreras" of our municipality, Sofía Balsalobre, in which different issues related to the ordinance could be addressed. Leads to approval in the January plenary session, for the issuance and use of parking cards for people with disabilities.

In a meeting satisfactory for both parties, since a break-even point has been sought in the development of the same.

In this new draft, almost all the observations and suggestions made by the Association "Without Barriers" and by FAMDIF have been included.

The new text of the ordinance includes the term functional diversity with a general character throughout the article, as well as improvements in the signage of reserved places and in several articles regarding faults and sanctions, all at the suggestion of the Association "Sin Barreras" and after several meetings with the City Council, thus collecting the sensitivity and contributions that we have been receiving all these last days.

At the last meeting yesterday, the Mayor also transferred a last proposal regarding the time limit of parking in the places reserved for people with functional diversity, which was one of the points that generated greater differences.

With the publication of the final ordinance, the places reserved for people with functional diversity, both those linked to their homes or workplaces (of which it was already so) and those linked to public service places, will not have hourly parking limits .

However, the City may establish for each of them separately, when the level of occupation or continued misuse of a place makes it difficult for users to access these public services.

The Mayor and the Association also agreed on the need to expand the number of reserved places, which will be confirmed, as a continuation of the collaboration shown by the parties, marking a path of work and participation in achieving the needs of this group , Both in infrastructure and in the services that disabled people require for their normal functioning and development of their personal and work life in our municipality.
