The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, along with the mayor of Sewell, Joaquín Buendía, attended today the act of appointment of 'Adoptive Son of Villa de Sewer' Diego Cubillana.
Thomas Violante said that "the social center for the elderly, dependent IMAS, will from now on the name of the volunteer who worked selflessly for the welfare of hundreds of residents of the city".
After the reading of the minutes and deliver the son of Cubillana diploma distinction, posthumously, the commemorative plaque with the name of the center was discovered.
Diego Cubillana, retired Railway RENFE, was born in Utrera (Sevilla), on September 5, 1933 and died in Sewell, last July 21, at 81.
It is recognized at local and regional level their work in anonymity helping the most disadvantaged and doing an exemplary job of selfless service to others, since the early 70s.
He was the head of Caritas Interparroquial Sewer, coordinating the work that the charity has in the three parishes of the city: San Pedro Apostle, Our Lady of the Assumption and San Roque.
He also held the position of vice president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer Sewer, valedor with his work countless actions in preventing this serious disease.
