Hero Spain and the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment meet to explore possible ways of collaboration (26/11/2020)

This Thursday, November 26, the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment, Antonio Luengo Zapata, and Javier Uruñuela, General Manager Hero Southern European Cluster, have met on the occasion of the annual planting of trees that the food company carried out annually in the Sierra Espuña Regional Park as part of their commitment to caring for the environment and the environment in which they operate. The meeting took place in the Sierra Espuña Regional Park, and was also attended by Fulgencio Perona, General Director of the Natural Environment, and Pablo Serrano, Quality & Innovation Director Hero Spain.

During it, the attendees had the opportunity to visit one of the company's previous plantations to see its evolution over time, as well as plant a new tree in the natural environment.

Subsequently, a meeting was held in which both entities discussed the different possibilities for public-private collaboration in environmental matters in the Region of Murcia, as well as the possible existing opportunities to continue collaborating in this area.

Additionally, Hero España has advanced to the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock,Fisheries and the Environment its commitments on sustainability and the environment for the year 2030, which will be announced to the public soon. This annual tree planting project, launched in 2012 and in which volunteers from the Hero España staff participate, is the result of Hero España's adherence to the Social Responsibility against Climate Change (RSCO2) initiative promoted by the Regional government.

In total, in these eight years more than 3,800 trees have been planted in different areas of the Sierra Espuña Regional Park.

This 2020, most of the plants have been donated by the Meles Association, a regional NGO dedicated to the study and conservation of nature and whose activity takes place in Sierra Espuña.
