José Alberto Llopis considers that his appointment as chief colonel of the Alcantarilla Air Base "is a huge challenge due to the influence and weight of the institution" (02/07/2020)

The president of the Regional Assembly, Alberto Castillo, has received Francisco Javier Fernández Fernández, chief colonel of the Alcantarilla Air Base and director of the “Méndez Parada” Military Parachuting School, who has introduced him to his replacement, José Alberto Llopis Almécija.

The inauguration ceremony will be held tomorrow Friday.The meeting lasted for 45 minutes.

At the end of it, Fernández, who has been in office for three years, has pointed out that during this time "our relationship with all the institutions has been fantastic and intense, and I have perceived that we are highly appreciated." In this sense, he stressed that "most of the workers of the Alcantarilla Air Base are citizens of the Region who have decided to serve Spain, through the Air Force, and those of us who were not born here have ended up becoming Murcians ""During these three years I have had the privilege of experiencing very positive moments, including visits to hospitals, the organization of charity events and the commemoration of the 1.5 million parachute jumps.

In this regard, he stressed that his first objectives are to get to know the unit well, to start the courses following the corresponding health protocols, and to resume the activity little by little.Llopis has announced that the land parade has been abolished at the inauguration.

"It will be a solemn act, but very simple to comply with the appropriate sanitary measures."Regarding the meeting with the president of the Regional Assembly, both Fernández and Llopis have agreed that the contact has been very positive.

The outgoing chief colonel highlighted "the great affection that Castillo professes for the Air Base.

Every time he has had the opportunity, he has accompanied us and will do so again tomorrow.

He came to say goodbye to me as a representative of an institution, and in reality it has been farewell between two friends.
