Alcantarilla will create the municipal body for the participation of children and adolescents (25/06/2020)

| The Plenary approved the budget for 2020, which amounts to 29,500,000 euros | Green light to name six streets in the San Andrés business park Alcantarilla will have a municipal body for the participation of children and adolescents (Opia) which aims to achieve the highest level of protection and well-being of minors, favoring the participation of children and adolescents in the definition of municipal policy in the field of childhood and adolescence, promote knowledge, dissemination and awareness of the rights and duties of childhood and adolescence, as well as the rights and duties of mothers, fathers, educators and society in general, promote the exercise of children's rights and girls gathered in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and promote the culture of children's participation. The creation of this body and its regulations were approved this morning, unanimously, by the municipal plenary, which held its first face-to-face session after the Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation of this Body is included as a priority objective in the Municipal Plan for Children and Adolescents and in the conditions of the seal of Child Friendly Cities, which Unicef ??granted to the City Council in 2018.

The Opia will renew its positions every two years, and it shall meet at least every six months, at the request of the organ president or one third of its members. At the beginning of the Plenary he took possession as a councilor of the Alcantarilla City Council by the municipal group of Citizens, Alejandro Díaz García-Longoria. The Plenary definitely approved the City Council's budget for 2020, after dismissing the allegations presented by the Association for the Conservation of the Heritage of the Huerta de Murcia (Huermur).

The budget is 29,500,000 euros, which means guaranteeing the maintenance and improvement of the services offered by the City Council and completing major projects such as the remodeling of the Ferris wheel, the Huerta and Aqueduct Museum, the planting of trees in the municipality with the Kiri urban forest project, the continuation of the procedures for the construction of the southern variant of Alcantarilla, the construction of a bike path, and the remodeling of gardens and squares such as Plaza del Aire, Campoamor garden, and the garden of Carril de Caballero, asphalt agglomerate in several streets of the municipality,accessibility works in calle Mayor, shading games, and various performances in squares and public buildings. Streets business park San Andrés The Plenary also approved the name of six streets of the San Andrés business park with the names of Avenida de la Conserva, Calle Industria de la Metallurgia, Calle de La Lonja and Calle Industria de la Madera.

These names have been adopted to recognize the industrial sectors with a tradition in Alcantarilla. Judicial defense The Plenary showed its support to the City Council of the Sewer "in the defense of the judicial questions preserving, at all times, the interests of the institution and its position to reach pacts, agreements and negotiations with the creditors, always in benefit of the institution".
