| Two months ago, it was agreed to postpone the festivities until October, but it was suspended due to the evolution of the pandemic of the Covid-19 and the uncertainty about the performance of mass events | The City Council of Alcantarilla, the Federation of Peñas Festeras y Culturales and the Brotherhood of the Virgen de la Salud have decided to permanently suspend the Festivities of May 2020, as announced by the Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, the President of the Federation, Juan Sornichero, and the Brotherhood's Big Brother, Diego Guzmán, after signing an agreement. The mayor explained that "despite the fact that two months ago, at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we agreed to move the May festivities to October, we have decided to suspend them this year because there is much uncertainty and we do not have health guarantees that massive celebrations, characteristic of our festivals, such as free concerts and the parade of floats can be held.

" The mayor indicated that "this painful decision, which puts the health of sewers first, has been taken as a responsibility, jointly with the Elder Brother of the Brotherhood of the Virgin of Health, Diego Guzmán, and the President of the Federation of Peñas Festeras, Juan Sornichero ". The local holiday that is celebrated every year in May, will take place on October 9, as agreed by the Plenary of the Alcantarilla City Council and published the Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia on May 15. Buendía thanked "all the supporters clubs, their supporters, all the members of the Brotherhood of the Virgen de la Salud, all the companies, all the associations and institutions of the municipality, the personnel of the municipal services, and all the Alcantarilla citizens who make the May Festivals their work and effort in preparing for the 2020 festivities "; and encouraged citizens and visitors "that, recovered from the hard blow we are suffering, we put our maximum enthusiasm, joy, generosity and dedication in the organization and celebration of the May 2021 festivities." It is the first time in the history of the festivals that they have been totally suspended.

On May 13, 2011, all the events scheduled for the big day of the festivities in solidarity with the victims of the Lorca earthquake, which had happened on May 11, 2011, were canceled.

In addition, some year some event had to be suspended by rains but they have never been totally suspended.
