| The formation registers a motion in the Regional Assembly to recognize the relevance of the celebrations as they approach their first half century of existence | The parliamentary group of Citizens has registered in the Regional Assembly a motion in which it urges the Governing Council to carry out the necessary procedures to ensure that the Feasts of the Sewer Witch are declared of Regional Tourist Interest.The deputy alcantarillero Francisco Álvarez has registered the motion, in which he highlighted "the long history and roots of some celebrations whose seed was planted in 1971", highlighting the action in its promotion and growth of the Federation of Peñas Festeras and Cultural de Alcantarilla -which groups 19 rocks with more than 350 members-, the Brotherhood of the Virgen de la Salud, Patron Saint of the city and Honorary Mayor of it; and the Alcantarilla City Council itself.
Álvarez recalled that in March 1995 the management festivities of Alcantarilla were already declared of Regional Tourist Interest, and in April of last year it was unanimously approved that its official name should become that of 'Fiestas de Mayo', “a name that it shows in a more complete way what they are as a whole and better represents all the actors of the parties, constituting a promotional brand for Alcantarilla, its authentic hallmark ”.In his opinion, coinciding with the upcoming celebration of the 50th anniversary of the festivities, "it is essential to continue supporting them, something that Ciudadanos has already done by promoting its declaration of National Tourist Interest in the Regional Assembly."
