| If a need for care is detected in the elderly, the possibility of providing some more support service is assessed from the Department | A team made up of staff from the Department of Social Welfare, Family and Women of the Alcantarilla City Council and municipal employees from other areas has been in charge, since the month began, of calling all those over 65 who live alone in the municipality to check that they are fine. The calls are made based on the data obtained from the municipal register, and people who already have weekly follow-up since the pandemic began have been excluded because they receive some service from the Social Services area. The purpose of the calls is to worry about people over 65 who are alone in their homes during the time of confinement, if they are sufficiently attended by family members or if they can require help for any essential task, providing them with the Social Services contact telephone number.

In cases where a need for care is detected in the elderly, the possibility of providing a specific and / or periodic support service from Social Services is assessed. The Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, explained that "the calls are being very well received by the elderly, in fact, we have even received messages of thanks from family members on social networks.

We have detected in many cases the need to speak that many of them have these people, therefore making emotional support, during the call and in some cases, we have referred them to the psychologist of the Department to assess the weekly continuity of the calls.

" The call team is made up of Social Services personnel, municipal employees from other areas who have previously worked in the Department of Social Welfare and Registry staff.

All workers highlight the gratitude of the elders to those who call and the love they are receiving.
