Alcantarilla celebrates Book Day with reading "Don Quixote" from the balconies, comic contest and invisible literary friend (20/04/2020)

| The Department of Education, Culture and Youth has the collaboration of educational centers and youth associations | The City Council of Alcantarilla will celebrate this year the Book Day, which is commemorated on Thursday, April 23, in a virtual way with activities throughout the week so that citizens can participate from home and through their social networks. One of the initiatives is the public reading of "Don Quixote" from the windows and balconies.

The objective is that the neighbors record videos reading a fragment of this work of universal literature and send it to the email cultura@ayto-alcantarilla.es, with the subject "Don Quixote, from the windows and balconies", from today until Friday, April 24 at 8:00 p.m.

In addition, participants will be able to upload those videos to their social networks.

The Department of Education, Culture and Youth of the Alcantarilla City Council will select the most original videos daily to publish them the next day on their social networks.

When the Covid-19 epidemic ends, the Department will organize an act to present diplomas to the most original videos. In addition, the City Council has called the "A comic for my favorite book" contest to spark imagination and creativity while promoting reading.

People of all ages can participate by drawing a comic that describes a chapter or scene from their favorite book.

Once drawn they will have to send it by email to cultura@ayto-alcantarilla.es and put in the subject "A comic for my favorite book".

The deadline to participate is now open and ends on Friday, April 24 at 8:00 p.m.

The Department will select the three best or most original comics and publish them on Monday, April 27 on their social networks.

Once the pandemic ends, diplomas will be awarded to the winners. All these initiatives will have the collaboration of educational centers, students, teachers, the Federation of Fathers and Mothers and the youth associations of the municipality.

In addition, there will be performances, chained readings and other activities from the social networks of the Department. As in previous years, the City Council will celebrate the literary invisible friend, but this time in a different way.

Participants will have to take a photo with their favorite book covering their faces, as a mask, and they will send it by email to the address cultura@ayto-alcantarilla.es, indicating name, surname and age.

They can participate with a maximum of three photographs per person, until Friday, April 24 at 8:00 p.m.

When the Municipal Library returns to provide in-person service, they can stop by and pick up the book of the invisible friend.

It is not essential to leave another book in exchange.
