The term is now open to participate in the XXVIII edition of the Jara Carrillo International Contest of poetry and humor.

The Alcantarilla City Council has recovered this event that was held in the city for 27 years, from 1984 to 2011, and which has included among the jury great writers such as Rosa Regás, José Luis Castillo Puche, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, Soledad Puertolas, Antonio Soler, Javier Tomeo, Ana Rosetti, Andrés, Neuman, Gustavo Martínez Garzó and Lorenzo Silva.
This literary contest has a high participation rate, with an average of 600 works, and recognized writers such as Juan Manuel de Prada and Murcian Luis Leante and Miguel Sánchez Robles have been awarded.
People of any nationality and without age limit may present.
There will be two modalities, poetry and a humorous genre tale.
Each participant may submit two works per genre, but only one work may be awarded.
A prize will be established for each modality, of 1,600 euros each, and two runners-up of 900 euros each.
In addition, three finalists will be named for each modality whose works will be included in the one that will be published with the works awarded in the contest.
Both the finalists and the winners will receive a commemorative sculpture of the contest.
The jury will be formed by professionals of recognized prestige belonging to the educational, literary world, and also by readers.
The shortlisted will be announced the first week of October, on November 2 the jury's decision will be made public and on November 27 the awards will be presented.
In addition, the City Council is preparing a parallel program during November, which will become the month of humor, related to the literary contest with activities such as monologues, film series, expert talks and laugh therapy workshops.
