The Alcantarilla Women's Awards distinguish the first woman who entered the Local Police and health centers (06/03/2020)

Ana María Costa del Cerro, sewer and first woman to enter the Local Police of Alcantarilla, and the Alcantarilla Health Centers (Centro Alcantarilla-Sangonera and Alcantarilla-Casco) have received the XII Women's Awards, which have been awarded Tomorrow at a gala held at the Infanta Elena Cultural Center.

This gala is celebrated within the events to commemorate International Women's Rights Day.

Ana María Costa del Cerro received the Women's Prize in her individual category for breaking gender stereotypes in a very masculinized professional sector at that time, and for being an example of removing barriers and empowering women.

In the institutional category, the prize went to the Alcantarilla-Sangonera and Alcantarilla-Casco Health Centers, with special mention to the two midwives currently working, Digna Bastida and Mari Carmen Sánchez, and the Virtudes Ferrer social worker , for its fight in favor of women's rights and equality, highlighting its collaboration and coordination with the City Council in the detection of situations of violence and in the planning of prevention actions.

During the event, Carmen Otálora, founder of the Housewives Association of Alcantarilla, was honored, and an institutional manifesto on International Women's Day was read.
