Ten students of 5th of Primary of Alcantarilla have been finalists of the contest of drawing Grows in Security, and will happen to the regional phase.
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, and the general director of Social Dialogue and Labor Welfare, Manuela Marín, presented the awards at the Plenary Hall of the City Council.
The work of the ten students has been awarded among 115 participants of the municipality.
The winners are: Lucía Belchi Martínez and Nuria Marcela Zumba Castro of the CEIP Our Lady of Health;
Jesús Cano López and Nerea Pacheco Escudero of the Samaniego school;
César Martínez Soler and Vanesa Kirilsva Gesegienne of CEIP Las Tejeras;
Brian Contreras Mendoza and Alexandra Lavinia Muntcan of the CEIP Our Lady of the Assumption;
and Saad Laaziri Elmzcuri and Aurelia Soria González of CEIP Vistabella.
Joaquín Buendía stressed that "the City Council, through the Department of Education, has been participating in this campaign since 2006/2007 because we consider it very important for children to know basic concepts about risk prevention, as well as improving posture ".
This campaign is an initiative of the Ministry of Employment, Research and Universities, developed by the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, and with the collaboration of the municipalities of the participating municipalities.
The contest was launched for the first time in 2004, with the purpose of raising awareness among young people about the importance of risk prevention in their daily activities.
Grows in Safety is intended for children of 5th grade of public and concerted schools in the Region in order to introduce into the school environment the prevention of occupational hazards in a playful way and appropriate to their level of knowledge, through talks informative and audiovisual material.
The ten students of Alcantarilla will compete in the regional phase with those selected in the local phase of the participating municipalities.
In total, nearly 3,500 student jobs from all over the Region compete in this contest.
During the 2017/2018 academic year, the student of Alcantarilla Lidia García, from the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción school, was the regional winner of this contest.
