Opening act of the 2019-2020 school year in the military parachuting school “Méndez Parada” (24/09/2019)

Today, September 24, the Opening Act of the 2019-2020 School Course of the “Méndez Parada” Military Parachuting School (EMPMP), under the presidency of the Hon.

Mr. General of Division D. Enrique Jesús Biosca Vázquez, Director of Education of the Air Force.

The inaugural lesson was taught by the President of the Fuertes Group and Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Murcia, the Hon.

Mr. Tomás Fuertes Fernández under the watchful eye of the Ilmo.

Mr. Colonel Head of the Alcantarilla Air Base and Director of the Military School of Parachuting "Méndez Parada", Mr. Fco. Javier Fernández Fernández.

The act was carried out in the following sequence: the Reading of the Memory of the Center during the last school year, by the Lieutenant Colonel Deputy Director of Studies of the EMPMP, Mr. Francisco Luis Martín Siverio.

During his Reading, Lieutenant Colonel Siverio highlighted the almost 13,000 launches that were made during the previous course at this School.

In addition, he highlighted the work of the Teachers and Instructors that he has under his command since, thanks to his effort and work, twenty-nine courses were taught at the Military Parachuting School and about 800 students were enrolled during the last school year.

He especially stressed the realization of NATO Courses, such as the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), in addition to the monitoring and execution of its National Training Plan, this being the only center approved in Spain by NATO for the realization of said course and maintenance of the demanding qualification, or the course in the matter SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Extraction) in which the crews with high risk of isolation and / or exploitation in enemy territory are instructed.

In the same way, he made reference to the manifest satisfaction of all the students towards the faculty of the School that was latent in the external evaluation carried out last year by the General Directorate of Recruitment and Military Education (DIGEREM).

The Colonel Director of the EMPMP D. Fco. Javier Fernández congratulated the work of all those who make up his Unit, after 72 uninterrupted years dedicated to military teaching, during which more than one hundred and twenty thousand students have been trained in paratroopers and They have made about a million and a half launches, also encouraged that in this new Academic Course join their efforts to the expectations of the increase in parachute training courses and specialization that will be taught for the armies of Earth, Navy and Air, in addition to FCSE and armies of foreign countries.

"This School Course that we inaugurate today offers us a challenge, not only of work and teaching load, but a personal challenge for all, during which the figures obtained last year will be exceeded," said Colonel Fernandez.

The Solemn Opening Act ended with the Inaugural Lesson by the President of the Fuertes Group, Mr. Tomás Fuertes Fernández who not only praised the work and dedication of all those who make up this School, but also publicly recognized the pride he felt having performed the Military Service at the Alcantarilla Air Base.

As a golden clasp, it was possible to perform after the Solemn Opening Act, an exhibition that showed the parachute capabilities of this Unit, personnel of the Air Force Skydiving Patrol Patrol (PAPEA) glimpsed the assisting authorities who enjoyed of parachute launches over the skies of the Region of Murcia.
