The Plenary of the City Council of Alcantarilla approved today, with the votes in favor of the Popular Party, the five-year extension of the water supply and sanitation service contract in the municipality, offered by Hidrogea.
This renovation will include improvements such as the renewal of services in various areas of the municipality with an investment of 1.2 million euros, in streets such as Isaac Albeniz, Teruel, Barcelona, â€‹â€‹Ceuta and Gloria Pastor Velasco Gabaldón.
In addition, during the extension the water bill will not be increased.
The City Council has not increased the water rate since 2013, which has meant that citizens have been able to save 900,000 euros in the 2014-2019 period.
The Councilor for Development of the City and Historical Heritage, Juan Antonio Mata, stressed that "the extension of this service is legal because the contract includes it," and added that "the extension will allow the municipality to receive revenues of 8.5 million euros for the next five years to continue betting on the social and economic growth of Alcantarilla. "
The City Council created a social fund with Hidrogea that has helped 743 families and has forgiven more than 3,000 receipts.
In addition, the payment of 2,400 receipts to customers who have requested it, and the company collaborating with Cáritas, with the Social Beata Piedad de la Cruz dining room has been split.
During the 25 years that Hidrogea has been providing the service, the episodes of water cuts have been minimized, which affected the entire municipal area, and currently the supply is only cut off in one or several streets in case of breakdowns or improvements.
Likewise, the water and sanitation networks have been modernized, with the implementation of state-of-the-art remote control and remote control to know the state of the network in real time.
The company has international certifications, such as ISO 22,000, which guarantees that the water that comes out of the tap meets one hundred percent all sanitary requirements.
In the Los Guillermos plant, which produces two million cubic meters of potable water per year, and in the more than 300 kilometers of the network, more than 13,000 controls are carried out annually, well above what is required by the regulations, and whose performance the national average is much better.
The sewer and sewerage network of Alcantarilla is one of the most efficient in the country, with a yield of almost five percent above the national average, according to the latest surveys conducted by the Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitation (AEAS ).
What supposes a saving of more than eight million cubic meters of water, the equivalent to the consumption of four years of the neighbors of Alcantarilla.
