Last February and for the sixth consecutive year the Sewer Air Base invited the sport in its sixth edition of the popular race organized in collaboration with the Sewer City Council and Sangonera la Seca, maintained the same format as in years previous

On the morning of yesterday, at 1:00 p.m., the chief colonel of the Alcantarilla Air Base and director of the Military School of Parachute Méndez Parada, Francisco Javier Fernández, made an emotional act of delivery of donation of the benefits derived from the celebration of the VI Race of the Sewer Air Base to the two associations that in this last edition had foreseen, to the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer and other Dementias AFADE Alcantarilla and Cáritas Castrenses.

Previously the attendees could enjoy a paratrooper exhibition of the PAPEA.

Present at the ceremony were the technical director of the race, Lieutenant Colonel Manuel de Miguel Ramírez, as well as the General Director of Sports of the Region of Murcia Alonso Gómez López, the first deputy mayor of the Municipality of Sewer Francisca Terol Cano, together with the Councilor for Sports, Antonio Martínez Griñán, as well as representatives of the associations of Cáritas Castrenses;

Lieutenant General Eduardo Zamarripa Martínez, and the president of AFADE Alcantarilla, Julia Fernández Sánchez, accompanied by other components of its board of directors and the Day Center staff that they have in our municipality, to which the benefits collected by the VI were destined Race held on February 24, specifically 20,000 euros, 10,000 euros for each of the associations.

Subsequently, Colonel Javier Fernandez handed out the solidarity checks to each of the representatives of the two associations who were excited, did not find words of thanks and assured that the perceived amount will be of great help.

The Act ended with a group photo of all attendees, highlighting the presence of associations that have benefited from the proceeds of this year's charity race, Cáritas Castrenses de Alcantarilla and AFADE Alcantarilla.

A CAREER FOR SOLIDARITY

Since its inception, this Solidarity Race has two tours;

one of 5 kilometers that runs through the Villa de Alcantarilla, and another more technical 14 kilometers, which also crosses the facilities of the Air Base and Sangonera la Seca.

This race is integrated into the Running Challenge since 2015, a league of popular races promoted by the Athletics Federation of Murcia (FAMU), which classifies this Popular Race as: "one of the best races in the Region of Murcia, with a view to become of national interest. "

Both routes start simultaneously from the Calle Mayor de Alcantarilla, where the finish line is also installed.
