The PSOE improves its results with respect to the 2015 elections by winning six councilors and regaining its space as a reference for the left in the town (27/05/2019)

The PSOE has improved its election results with respect to the elections of 2015 increasing its representation in the City Hall Sewer to go from having five councilors to six during the next term 2019-2023.

Francisco Saavedra was chosen as number one to lead the socialist candidacy for mayor in an assembly held on January 11, after Murcia put a manager at the head of the party in the town, and in just three and a half months has managed to increase the representation of the party in the Consistory, increasing by 4.5% the number of socialist voters in the polls, going from harvesting 4,472 votes in 2015 to 4,675 in 2019.

"The Popular Party will rule with an absolute majority and it is clear that we have a lot of work ahead, but the Socialist Party has regained its space in the Plenary Hall as a reference for the local left because we will be the only leftist formation and it is a good point of departure to rearm the party soon constituting a new local executive ", reflect from the PSOE.

One of the factors that has prevented to harvest better results to the candidacy headed by Francisco Saavedra, according to the Socialist Party, has been the high percentage of abstention recorded in Sewer.

Last Sunday, 30,311 voters were called to the polls, but 11,772 did not exercise their right to vote.

"This means that 38.83% of the neighbors have not mobilized to decide on the future of the City Council and their city choosing any of the ten options that went to the municipal elections", stressed from the PSOE.

In the 2015 municipal elections there was a 35.66% of voters who did not attend their appointment with the polls (10.569) and in the 2019 elections the abstention has grown three points.

All this, despite the fact that the census had 670 more voters than four years ago.

"We believe that this information should make all political parties and the entire sewer company reflect."

The Municipal Socialist Group will be led in the next term by Francisco Saavedra and from the PSOE advance that, from the opposition, "work will continue to expedite the exit of the railroad from the Entrevías area and to seek a solution on arrival of the AVE to Las Tejeras to prevent the neighborhood from being isolated and will be done with the same intensity as that which was done during the electoral campaign, in which Francisco Saavedra met with the Ministry of Development and with the President of the Government of Spain , Pedro Sánchez.
