The PP demands in the Senate the construction of a new police station in Alcantarilla (31/10/2018)

Senator Nuria Guijarro, presented yesterday a motion in the Senate demanding the Government the construction of a new police station in the municipality of Alcantarilla, "before the door slammed by the Government of Pedro Sánchez."

All this despite the fact that the previous Popular Party Government consigned more than 100,000 euros in the 2018 budgets, which allows work to begin in the first months of 2019.

However, the Ministry has not only refused to take the works out to tender, but has not even drafted the project, nor have they carried out the geotechnical study.

"The government of Pedro Sánchez gives a new display of paralysis, which in this case affects a much-needed infrastructure for the Region, such as the Sewer Station, which the Popular Party Government undertook to complete in two years, with a investment of 2 million euros. "

And all this despite the fact that the Ministry of the Interior owns a plot of 1,800 square meters, which were ceded by the Town Hall Sewer to house the police units.

The mayor Joaquín Buendía, formalized the assignment last April, date on which the reception by the ministry culminated.

For all these reasons, Nuria Guijarro has demanded that the PSOE comply with "the agreements adopted by the previous government of the PP and the Alcantarilla City Council for the implementation of this new Police Station of the National Police Force."

Joaquín Buendía, on the other hand, has demanded that the Government of Pedro Sánchez "not extend more in time what Sewer and the Region so badly need, because they already have a lot allocated for it".

The unusual setback of the PSOE de Alcantarilla

No party was opposed yesterday in the Senate to the proposal of Nuria Guijarro.

However, something very different happened in Alcantarilla, when the local PSOE refused to vote in favor of the construction of a new police station.

This act of irresponsibility was questioned by the mayor, who asked the Socialists to "stop putting forward the impossible defense of the Sanchez Government, to build infrastructure for the National Police in Sewer and in the Region."

An old vindication

In May 2016, the then General Director of the Police, Mr. Ignacio Cosidó, visited the facilities of the current National Police Station and adopted the first commitments for the construction of a new police station.

In addition, the Town Hall of Sewer, initiated in 2017 the procedures to yield to the Ministry of the Interior a suitable site whose cession was agreed by the Municipal Plenary and counted on the approval of the General Director of Police, D. Germán Churches.

The transfer culminated last April.
