Sewell will have a center for citizen participation (19/11/2009)

This great project for cultural and creative stimulation of the residents of Sewell will have a library with 108 points in reading, a nature room, Local Agenda 21, meeting room and internet room for 25 people, along with a lounge of events to a hundred people

In the morning, in a ceremony presided by Mayor Sewer, Lazarus Mellado, has laid the first stone of the new Center for Citizen Participation in Sewell, located on Prince Avenue, the existing site with the Museum of the Huerta and the old inn and restaurant.

This major new project to stimulate cultural and creative neighbors within the project "Rehabilitation and Revitalization Archaeological, Environmental and Socio-Economic Environment Complex Ethnological Museum of the Huerta de Murcia and Natural" Water Room "and within the context of the municipal strategy "Sewer grows in Green" collection in the "Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development" of the municipality, aimed at improving the urban environment and quality of life of citizens, taking into account the comprehensive strategies regeneration of the historic environment and natural-cultural city.

The draft drawn up by architect Adolfo Rodriguez, is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to finance projects of local and urban development in the intervening period 2007-2013, a total of 5 million euros, which, the City will contribute 1.5 million.

This time the investment planned for the Centre for Citizen Participation is € 2,266,064.64, funded by the City Sewer and European funds, a trapezoidal plot of 4760.24 m2.

The Centre for Citizen Participation is aimed at stimulating cultural and creative citizens, creating spaces and resources to improve the quality of access to information and new technologies, fostering communication between citizens and facilitate their social integration, all in permanent contact with the city and surrounding natural areas.

The layout of the interior spaces of the building housing the different uses are directly related to the environment in which they are located.

Different uses of public rooms with the public-use favors the relationship with the environment first.

The building shows the dynamism and optimism with which Sewell looks to the future and the challenge of creating a socially ambitious, and it drives and promotes social awareness, cultural enrichment and social interaction between different generations and social backgrounds .

It aims to promote the development of the area, promote job creation and economic development and tourism, promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities to help achieve social cohesion.

AMBITIOUS PROJECT FOR ALL SEWER
