The doors of the Municipal Historical Archive (Casa Cayitas) are open for the temporary exhibition "Arqueología Ãbero-Romana Alcantarilla: Daniel Serrano Várez Alcantarilla through time" (06/04/2018)

Today was inaugurated in the Municipal Historical Archive, in the House of Cayitas, the temporary exhibition "Arqueología Ãbero-Romana Alcantarilla: Daniel Serrano Várez Alcantarilla through time", organized by the Town Hall of Sewer and promoted by the Association Legacy, with the collaboration of companies and local entities such as the Vicent López Foundation, Yoigo Alcantarilla, Grupo Baños, Murcia Betting, Vigilant and La Paz Hotel-Restaurant.

The exhibition will remain open until July 13.

With the interventions of the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, the Commissioner of the Exhibition, Alejo García Almagro and that of the honoree, Daniel Serrano Várez, the doors were open to the large public that gathered, to be participants in this great event for the city of Alcantarilla, because for the first time the archaeological remains found in the land of the deposits located within our municipal district are exposed in our municipality.

The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, in his speech made an assessment of the importance that it had and indicated the indispensability of working together, to be able to get institutions to believe in our projects and support them with their collaboration.

He had words of thanks for the Legacy Association for the work carried out, since the end of 2016 when the City Council made the proposal to carry out this Exhibition in Sewer, as well as the support it had for the Department of Culture, as well as Works and Services, to carry out all the updates that the rooms of the Municipal Historical Archive had to have to house it, with new modern technical means, new showcases according to this type of exhibitions, as well as with adequate security means.

Buendía had words of thanks and congratulations for the humble, altruistic and selfless work of research that Professor Daniel Serrano Várez has been doing since this Albacete arrived at the end of the 70s to the Ntra. Sra. De la Salud School and continue later until his retirement in the Jacinto Benavente School, in the recovery of these vestiges, being an indispensable person so that the narration of the history of Sewer, through time, has continuity between the fifth century before and fourth and fifth after Christ.

With this Exhibition you also want to pay tribute to this alcantarillero, Albacete (Montealegre del Castillo - 1939) by birth.

But the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, went a step further and announced to the audience the proposal that the municipal Popular Party group registered yesterday at City Hall, which hopes to have the endorsement in the next plenary session of all municipal groups, to name Son Adoptivo de Alcantarilla, to Daniel Serrano Várez, for the fundamental work carried out in archaeological research, in a scientific way, in the municipality of Alcantarilla, finding deposits, intensively studying them and publishing a large number of articles in specialized magazines, university works and in the magazine, today already book, "Cangilón".

The Exhibition Commissioner and Secretary of the Legacy Association, Alejo García Almagro, thanked the support and collaboration with the City Council to achieve this great exhibition for Sewer, "This is an exhibition that has the necessary technical means for Sewer be proud of its history shown through the archaeological remains found in the land of the sites located within our municipal area.It is time for us to convince ourselves of our importance as a historical legacy of Iberians and Romans who occupied these rich and fertile lands "

The honoree, who was surrounded by his family, had an emotional words of thanks, first to value and show the residents of Sewer and people interested in knowing part of our history in this well-worked exhibition, requesting the collaboration of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, so that the same one day does not stay in temporary, but remains always exposed.

He also thanked the recognition, at this time in the proposal, that the Mayor announced they would appoint him an Adoptive Son and he promised to be present and collaborate with the organizers in showing all the students that visit it - this important exhibition.

The opening hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and also open on Friday afternoons, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

From April 6 to July 13.
