The commemorative acts of the 50th anniversary of the Huerta de Alcantarilla Museum begin (10/03/2018)

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Javier Celdrán, and the Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, participated this morning in the beginning of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Ethnographic Museum of La Huerta de Alcantarilla in a meeting in which has been honored to collectives and people who have been fundamental for the development, preservation and dissemination of this cultural space that every year receives the visit of more than 15,000 people.

At the ceremony, the Museum's Choir and Dance Group was honored, which turns 40;

to the Association of Friends of the Huerta Museum, on its 30th anniversary;

and to groups and people who are fundamental to the development of this cultural space, such as Diego Riquelme Rodríguez, Joaquín Martínez López, Manuel Jorge Aragoneses, Mariano Ballester Navarro, Fulgencio Saura Mira, Diego Luis Pacetti López and Ángel Luis Riquelme Manzanera.

Celdrán stressed the importance of this museum, which "is part of our living legacy and helps to understand and maintain the traditions and folklore linked to the garden that makes us unique and different."

The Museum of La Huerta enclosure mixes ethnology, agriculture, anthropology and water culture.

It includes different elements: The barracks and the huertano habitat;

the wheel or ancestral and graceful ferris wheel;

the museum proper, with costumes, utensils, ceramics and various garden objects distributed in several rooms;

hydrology, with ditches, bracers, etc;

as well as its gardens.
