The Alcantarilla City Council installs new containers for the collection and recycling of used cooking oil (23/10/2017)

The Town Council of Alcantarilla, through the Department of Works and Services, has installed new containers, orange, for the collection of used cooking oils.

This measure facilitates the process of discarding used cooking oils since even in small quantities discarded by sinks, toilets or other elements of the public sanitation network is a practice that should be avoided.

Such action implies the risk of pipe jams, difficulties and cost increases in wastewater treatment processes, as well as the formation of a surface film in river waters, lakes, etc., which affects the exchange of oxygen and impairs the living beings of the ecosystems.

It is estimated that one liter of oil can contaminate one thousand liters of water.
