The Councilor for Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, and Mayor Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, today signed an agreement to strengthen protection and comprehensive assistance to victims of gender violence through the Sewer Psychosocial Emergency Group (GEPSA) Of the Civil Protection Service of this municipality.

This unit will offer an accompanying service and psychological care in emergency situations for cases derived by the Emergency Telephone Assistance Device for battered women 112 Región de Murcia.

Violante Tomás explained that "in cases of gender violence that are susceptible to be treated by the GEPSA, the aggressor does not have to be present in the place where the victim is, and the security forces and Assistance that is being provided. "

In case of detecting the need for intervention by health services, State Security Forces and Bodies or other services, 112 will establish contact, in accordance with its operating protocols.

This agreement was launched in 2015 through a pilot experience with the City of Murcia, and in 2016 was extended to the Civil Protection Unit of Lorca.
