Environment does not detect any abnormality in emissions from chemical industries Sewer pole (20/10/2016)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment has not detected any anomaly in the emission parameters of the industries of chemical pole Sewer handlers toluene, or in other nearby facilities that could contribute to the emission of volatile organic compounds, particularly toluene following verification by the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, in collaboration with the local council.

Counseling, through the Directorate General of Quality and Environmental Assessment, watch "at all times" measurements carried out on the network stations monitoring air quality and data arriving continuously.

In late June high values were detected in the station Raceway benzene and toluene, and the 28th of that month an extraordinary inspection was conducted in the derivatives business Chemicals to verify any abnormal situations that could influence the data collected by the station Sewer.

all production processes made since three in the morning and found that conditions were normal were checked.

In 2015, the DG made a report in relation to levels of benzene, toluene and xylene registered at the station Sewer from 2008 to 2014, whose conclusion was not exceeded in that period the values of benzene, toluene and xylene required by applicable law, or those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

There is no administrative regulations applicable to the toluene set limit values, although the WHO recommends concentrations in air should be kept below treintaminutal value of 1,000 micrograms per cubic meter, corresponding to the threshold odor detection, and other values guide are recommended as the weekly average values of 260 micrograms per cubic meter.

In the study conducted by the Directorate General in 2015 it concluded that none of those recommended by WHO values are exceeded.

In addition to the continuous monitoring of emission parameters of companies in the chemical pole, it should be noted that in the remainder of the year is going to conduct a study to improve the analysis of the retro paths in the environment Sewer high resolution and introduction of orographic variable, which will allow upscaling back trajectory calculations from 500 meters to 30 meters.

In order to improve the calculation of back trajectories of different episodes of odors that may occur, with the assimilation of meteorological data obtained locally, it is planned the installation of three weather stations near Sewell and its immediate surroundings.

The initially planned locations are the Sanje Secondary School (Sewer) and preschools and primary San José de la Montaña (Sangonera La Seca, Murcia) and Rio Segura (Jabalí Nuevo, Murcia).

Counseling is also working on the constitution, at the end of the year, the Regional Commission for Monitoring Air Quality.
