For four years we were attentive so that the town hall was the home of all, the PP and its absolute majority prevent it from being so.

Arcadio Martínez, general secretary of Podemos Alcantarilla has stated that in June 2016 Podemos presented a motion to the full council for the LGBTI pride flag to fly on the balcony of the City Council on the occasion of the LGBTI Pride Day that is commemorated in memory of the revolts of Stonewall in 1969 in the Greewich Village of New York.

This motion urged the placement of the flag based on Law 8/2016, of May 27, on the social equality of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, transgender and intersexuals, and public policies against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

This motion was approved unanimously, so for the first time in the history of our town hall this collective was honored by placing the multicolored flag on the balcony of our Consistory.

During the following years, from Podemos Alcantarilla we were vigilant to comply with the Autonomous Law on social equality.

This June 28 has been commemorated again the LGBTI Pride Day and the absolute majority of the PP of Joaquín Buendía has prevented that you can pay tribute to this group by placing the multicolored flag on the balcony of the town hall as usual during the last term.

Martínez added that Joaquín Buendía demonstrates his true spirit by despising homage to this group, ignoring what was approved by the plenary session of the city council on June 28, 2016. From Podemos Alcantarilla we will continue working so that in our municipality no one feels despised and so that the town hall is representative of the whole society.
