Alcantarilla participates in the awareness campaign for glass recycling "La Región de los Ecólatras" (02/11/2018)

The Region of Murcia and Ecovidrio come together to look for projects committed to the environment.

Through it, all people, associations and institutions are encouraged to register their initiatives related to the care of the environment.

Among all the initiatives, one of them will receive a € 1,500 prize to make their cause bigger

Ecovidrio, a non-profit organization in charge of the management of the recycling of glass containers in Spain and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the General Directorate of Environment and Mar Menor, launched the campaign "The Region of the Ecólatras ", in which Sewer will participate

The campaign will be carried out throughout the Region of Murcia.

In Alcantarilla, Cartagena, Fuente Álamo, Lorca and Torre Pacheco, information and awareness actions will be developed at street level, in which promoters will encourage people, associations and institutions, who are carrying out awareness-raising actions in the care of the environment to create its initiative in www.ecolatras.es, in the category "The Region of the Ecólatras", between November 11 and December 11.

Among all the initiatives presented, one of them will receive a € 1,500 prize to make their cause bigger.

In addition, among all the people who register to support, share or disseminate an initiative, 5 exclusive miniglús will be raffled with the image of "The Region of the Ecólatras"

The General Director of Environment and Mar Menor, Antonio Luengo and Ecovidrio area manager, Roberto Fuentes, presented this innovative initiative last Wednesday, accompanied by representatives of the municipalities participating in the same, Juan Antonio Mata Tamboreo, Citizen Security Councilor , Works and Services of the Alcantarilla City Council, Juan Francisco Martínez, Councilor for Economy and Finance, Equality and Municipal Business LIMUSA of the City of Lorca, Mari Carmen Guillén, Councilor for Public Roads, Services, Parks and Gardens of the City Council of Torre Pacheco, Alberto Galindo, Councilor for Urban Planning, Environment and Agriculture of the City Council of Torre Pacheco and Candelaria López, Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Municipal Public Services and Citizen Participation of the City Council of Fuente Álamo.

With this new concept, Ecovidrio and the Region of Murcia are committed not only to emphasize the importance of recycling glass containers, but also to defend values ​​and interests of protecting the environment and the environment that surrounds us.

Glass recycling data in the Region of Murcia

This campaign will serve to continue raising the kilograms of waste of glass containers deposited in the containers of the Region of Murcia.

The collection of glass from this campaign will be added to the balance of the latest collection data, which indicate that a total of 24,800 kilograms of glass containers have been recycled in 2017, which means that each neighbor recycled an average of 16.9 kilograms of glass. this material.

Regarding the rate of containerization, the Region is located with an average of 207 inhabitants per container, currently having a total of 7,108 igloos for glass packaging waste installed throughout the regional territory.

Ecovidrio

Ecovidrio is the non-profit organization, responsible for the management of glass packaging waste in Spain, since 1998. The company is responsible for managing the entire recycling chain: awareness initiatives, selective collection, transport and treatment of glass packaging waste and its subsequent commercialization.

Ecovidrio provides a public and universal service for the citizen and makes available to companies that package their products in glass an effective and efficient management model, both from the environmental and economic perspective.

At present, a total of 8,000 packaging companies make possible, through their contribution, the recycling system.

The integrated sectors inEcovidrio represent more than 3% of Spanish GDP and market 99% of glass containers.
